Finding Purpose in Ministry and Joy in Serving Others

Our Ministry, Church, & Serving Others
Starting off I would like to share some background information about my husband Kagan. Kagan surrendered to the call to preach in 2015, at the young age of 19. He then evangelized, Preaching Gods word to different communities in western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. He attended his home church Crab Orchard Free Will Baptist in small town Avery County, when he was not preaching anywhere. He would fill in as a Sunday school teacher where he ultimately would end up preaching instead of teaching. He knew then God was dealing with him to share the gospel. He ran from this calling for a while and even started to join the military to avoid Gods call. He listened to God and Kagan served as the Pastor of Crab Orchard for 7 years.
Kagan is now the Pastor of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church in Marion, North Carolina, as of April 7th 2024. We had no idea how deeply this ministry would bless and shape our lives. As a pastor’s wife and teen Sunday school teacher, I’ve learned that ministry isn’t just about filling roles; it’s about sharing the love of Christ with others, building meaningful relationships, and leading people to a deeper connection with God.
At Bethel, our mission is simple yet powerful: to glorify God and serve others. Every Sunday, as we gather with our church family, I’m reminded of the privilege it is to worship and grow alongside such incredible people. Kagan pours his heart into each message, preaching God’s Word with passion and conviction, while I have the joy of walking alongside our teens, guiding them as they grow in their faith.
Serving others has become a cornerstone of our ministry. Whether it’s organizing a community outreach event, visiting a member in need, or simply sharing a smile with someone walking through the church doors for the first time, we’ve come to understand that ministry is as much about the small, everyday acts of kindness as it is about the big, memorable moments.
God calls each of us to be servants, and there’s no greater joy than seeing the impact of His love in the lives of others. One of my favorite scriptures is Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” This verse reminds me that every interaction, no matter how small, is an opportunity to reflect God’s goodness.
Through ministry, I’ve seen God work in amazing ways. I’ve witnessed hearts softened, lives transformed, and the power of community in action. It’s not always easy—ministry comes with challenges and moments of doubt—but I’ve found that God’s grace is always sufficient.
If I could encourage anyone reading this, it would be to embrace the opportunities to serve right where you are. Whether you’re part of a church family, volunteering in your community, or simply reaching out to someone in need, your actions matter. God can use you in ways you can’t even imagine when you step out in faith and obedience.
As we continue serving at Bethel, I’m praying that God will continue to open doors for us to reach more people and share His love in greater ways. To our church family and all who support us, thank you for being part of this journey. Your faith, kindness, and encouragement inspire us daily.
Let’s keep shining our lights and pointing others to Jesus together.
